D 1: Antananarivo > Tulear > The Park Isalo

Arrival in Tulear Airport and meet with your guide.

Departure to Isalo National Park by the famous National Road 7.

We leave for a first discovery of the park. The Isalo is a ruiniform plateau of continental sandstones from the Jurassic. Here the rock has an aspect, a shape and a very variable composition. Nature has adapted to the dry climate. The massif extends to the horizon, dotted with palm trees and satranas and offers us a festival of colours at the approach of sunset.

D 2: Visit of Isalo National Park

Breakfast at the hotel.

We leave for a short transfer by car to the foot of the Massif of Isalo.

With a small bag on the shoulder, we walk quietly through the amazing scenery made of canyons, pools and rocks with magical erosions. The park is an ecosystem apart ; the endemic vegetation made of aloe, euphorbia, Pachypodium and Kalanchoe … We take our picnic in the forest of Tapia. Around the site, excursions are possible, and a walk towards the summits allows you to enjoy a wonderful view.

NB: The pace and duration of the walk depend on the participants (minimum 2 hours). Your guide will advise you.

D 3: Ranohira > Tulear

After breakfast, we leave to the South.

Crossing of Ilakaka, the sapphire village. We make a stop into the Arboretum of Antsokay for a tour of this beautiful botanical park.

We continue our journey to the coast and the Mozambique Channel to reach Tulear. Nicknamed the “Sun City”, it is the largest city in southern Madagascar. It reveals large colonial style houses lined with tamarind trees, a large market and a beautiful mosque. The waterfront around a large avenue is very lively in the evening.

D 4: Tuléar > Ankasy

Breakfast and departure in 4WD to the north coast to the beautiful lagoon of Ambatomilo. You will leave behind the beige sand of the mangrove and the villages, to dive into unspoilt countryside, marked with white beaches and a turquoise lagoon, bordered by the dry forest. This lagoon is probably one of the most beautiful sites in the region, a real wild and authentic Eden.

We arrive at Ankasy Lodge.

D 5 and 6: Days at leisure at  Ankasy

These days at leisure on the banks of the Mozambique Channel will allow you to taste the various activities offered by your hotel. Seaward, these are trips in traditional dugout or motor boat to explore the lagoon and discover the fishing villages which border the site. On land, you can go with quad or 4WD to the typical Vezo village of Tsiandamba or to the lagoon of Fianamarasay to see flamingos. During the period from end of June to early September, it will be possible to go and meet the impressive humpback whales.

D 7: Ankasy > Tulear > Antananarivo

Morning at leisure and transfer to the airport organized by the hotel.

End of Malagasy Tours’ services.
